The short version: the tool does not send your measurements anywhere, because it has nowhere to send them. The site itself does set cookies, for Google Analytics, described below.
What the tool does with your input
Calibration and sizing run entirely in your browser. No measurement, card image or ring dimension is transmitted to this site or to anyone else. There is no account, no login and no upload. Nothing you do with the sizer reaches a server.
What is stored on your device
Two items of local storage, both written by your own browser and readable only by this site. Neither is sent anywhere and neither identifies you.
arsz.calib.v1— your screen calibration, so you do not have to re-match your card on every visit. It holds a scale factor and a pixel ratio, nothing more.theme— whether you chose light or dark.
Clearing your browser data removes both, and the Reset to Default Size button on the tool clears the calibration on its own — worth using if you move between screens, because a calibration from one display is wrong on another.
The site also sets two cookies, both for Google Analytics: _ga holds a random ID that tells one browser’s visits apart from another’s, and _ga_P2VY3MNK4K keeps track of the current visit. The analytics tag sends that ID to Google with each page view. Each cookie is set for up to two years, though your browser may delete it sooner. Clearing your browser data removes them too, and blocking Google’s tag keeps them from being set at all.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics, measurement ID G-P2VY3MNK4K, to count visits and see which pages are read. It uses the cookies above to tell a returning browser from a new one, and records:
- the page address (never anything after a “#”) and the page title;
- the page you came from;
- your approximate location, to city level;
- your device type, your browser and operating system with their versions, and your screen size and language;
- how long you spend on the page and how far you scroll;
- clicks on links to other sites (the link address) and file downloads from links.
It is not connected to the sizer and never receives your measurements or calibration. Form, site-search and video tracking are switched off. Google signals is off, so visits are not linked to Google accounts, and automatic detection of email addresses, phone numbers and street addresses is off. Google Analytics deletes visit-level data after 2 months; the totals in its reports are kept longer.
Google Analytics does not act on a browser’s “Do Not Track” setting. Google’s opt-out browser add-on stops it, and so does a blocker that blocks Google’s tag itself. Blocking only google-analytics.com is not enough, because the tag can then send the same data through www.google.com.
Cloudflare Web Analytics also runs on this site, added by Cloudflare as it serves each page. It counts page views and measures how fast pages load, how quickly they respond and how much their layout shifts, naming page elements by their CSS selector but never your measurements. It sets no cookies and does not use local storage.
Advertising
There are no ads on this site now. If that changes, this section will name the ad provider and explain how its cookies work before any ad appears.
Hosting
Cloudflare serves the site. To deliver each page and protect the site, it processes every request, including your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for. Its network error reporting also asks your browser to report failed page loads to Cloudflare.
If you write to hello@actualringsize.com, your message passes through Cloudflare Email Routing and arrives in a Gmail inbox, so Cloudflare relays it and Google stores it. It is kept only so it can be read and answered, never added to a mailing list, and deleted when you ask.
Your rights
The tool itself collects nothing about you, so it holds nothing to access, export or delete. The analytics data is not tied to a name or email address, so we cannot look it up by person. Google Analytics deletes visit-level data after 2 months on its own, and clearing this site’s cookies starts a new ID. To stop the collection, use one of the ways under Analytics above. If you have emailed us, ask and we will delete your messages. Questions to hello@actualringsize.com.
